Season 2024 Registration & Information

STAGE 1 – Existing Members – Tuesday, 2 January 2024 – Friday, 9 February 2024.

Registration will open ONLY to existing members and their siblings who were registered with Melville Lakers Netball Club in 2023, and all players in SET & GO age groups.

STAGE 2 – New Players – Monday, 8 January 2024 – Friday, 9 February 2024.

Registration will open to NEW players and existing members.

Registrations are capped for each age group to ensure that all teams in each age group have an adequate amount of players.

Registration and payment of fees is done online via PlayHQ. The links will be posted as soon as registrations are open.

Please ensure that you only register your child in the correct portal for their year of birth.

Late registrations received after 9 February 2024 will only be accepted if a vacancy exists.

PLEASE NOTE: Melville Lakers Netball Club has a strict withdrawal and refund policy. Please ensure you read the Melville Lakers Netball Club by-laws and constitution prior to registration.

Melville Lakers Netball Club is a KidSport registered club. Voucher holders will need to apply for their KidSport voucher BEFORE they register and will need to enter the voucher details at checkout.

The cost of uniforms is met individually and separately from the registration fee.

Uniforms are ordered online through the portal (or separately through the uniform coordinators), however it is strongly recommended that a uniform fitting session is attended PRIOR to orders being placed. MLNC is in the process of surveying whether we are moving to new uniforms. If you are a new player, or are looking to change your uniform for the 2024 season, we recommend searching our Facebook group for a second-hand uniform first (just in case our uniforms change in the near future).

Games are played at Gibson Park, High Street, East Fremantle on Saturdays. Start times range from 7.45am to 4.15pm. FNA have advised that the time slots are as following:

7:45am: 13U/6 and 13U/7, all 12U divisions, 10U/1 to 10U/3

9:10am: 13U/1 to 13U/5, 11U/1 to 11U/4, 10U/4 and 10U/5, Net Program, No Limits Program

10:35am: All 14U divisions, 11U/5 and 11U/6, 9U/1 to 9U/4, Net Program

12:00pm: 16U/1 to 16U/3, all 15U divisions, 9U/5, Set Blue, Set Green, Set Orange

1:25pm: All 18U divisions, 16U/4 and 16/U5, Set Red, Set White, Set Yellow

2:35pm/4:00pm: All Open Divisions

The 2024 Winter Season will run from April to September. Four BYES will take place during the season and finals will take place in September.

Please note: These dates are all subject to directives from the WA State Government and Netball WA.

Fees cover affiliation to Fremantle Netball Association and Netball WA, umpires, equipment, court hire, lighting costs, trophies and support and training for coaches and umpires.

NET program (no game) (2018 & 2019): $125

10 & under to 8 & under (2014 - 2017): $255

Juniors and 18 & under (2006 - 2013): $285

Open (2005 or earlier): $300

There is a 10% discount for families who register more than one child.

PlayHQ now offer an option for pay in four. This is not controlled by MLNC, and all questions regarding this should be directed to PlayHQ.

Melville Lakers Netball Club is always looking for players interested in umpiring. MLNC requires all players who are born in 2010 and earlier to umpire at least once throughout the season. Each player in Junior B grades and above will be rostered to umpire throughout the season. No experience is required as MLNC has a mentoring program for novice umpires.

Umpiring is paid at a rate of $20 per game for unbadged umpires, and $25 a game for umpires who have achieved their C Badge.

All junior umpires will be required to attend a compulsory umpiring training prior to the season commencement, and all umpires need to complete the online theory exam. If these requirements are not met, the umpire will not be paid. Umpiring details will be circulated in detail at a later time.

Training is held at Melville Senior High School, Potts Street, Melville on a day and time to be negotiated between the coach, team manager and players. It is generally after school on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Due to the amount of teams at MLNC, we cannot guarantee a certain time or day for training for each age group until the teams have been announced.

Melville Lakers Netball Club has a fair and unbiased process to team selection. Please see our Grading Policy for further details.

Junior grading will commence on Tuesday, 13 February and Wednesday, 14 February 2024 and will run for three weeks. Specific times are as follows:

8 & Under (2016-2017): Tuesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

9 & Under (2015): Wednesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

10 & Under (2014): Wednesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

11 & Under (2013): Wednesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

12 & Under (2012): Tuesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

13 & Under (2011): Tuesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

14 & Under (2010): Tuesday, 6:00pm - 7:30pm

15 & Under (2009): Tuesday, 6:00pm - 7:30pm

16 & Under (2008): Wednesday, 6:00pm - 7:00pm

18 & Under (2006 & 2007): Wednesday, 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Senior grading will run on Wednesday, 28 February 2024 and Tuesday, 5 March 2024 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

Please come to grading ready for match simulation, in appropriate clothing and footwear. We recommend bringing additional water due to the current heatwaves.

The NET Program will commence on Thursday, 8 February 2024 and run for all Thursdays in Term 1.

It runs from 5:00pm - 5:45pm.

Team announcements will be made in mid-March 2024.

It is important to remember that no team selection process guarantees 100% satisfaction for all parties involved. However Melville Lakers Netball Club will endeavour to do its best to place players in the most appropriate team to facilitate participation, enjoyment and skill development.

Melville Lakers plans for one major fundraiser and a cake stall each year.

Annual major fundraiser (most likely a Bunnings sausage sizzle) will be held at a date to be advised.

Cake stalls at FNA are now allocated on a rotational basis so there is no guarantee our club will be able to hold a stall every year. Further details will be available shortly.
